Then as now, the Foundation represents an expression of pride and concern by community leaders for open access to the world's knowledge. Our History Throughout its history, the Foundation has played a crucial role in ensuring that the Lincoln City Libraries expand to meet the needs of a growing community. From 1955 to 1962, the Foundation was active in raising funds for the building of new public libraries. Beginning in the 1980s, the Foundation accepted gifts to endow the Jane Pope Geske Heritage Room of Nebraska Authors, a special project of the Nebraska Literary Heritage Association. The Foundation also manages special funds designated to benefit specific areas of the library, such as the Dorothy Bridgmon Martin Gift Fund, which supports the children's room at Bennett Martin Public Library, and the Thompson Memorial Fund, which provides annual funds for the purchase of quality children's books. Today, our library system faces new challenges...
Today's challenges can only be met by increasing private support of the Lincoln City Libraries.
